Product Descriptions:

  • Combed Cotton
Combed cotton is cotton that has been sent through a machine that straightens the fibers, making the resulting fabric softer and smoother.
  • Embroidery
Embroidery stitches a design into fabric through the use of high-speed, computer-controlled sewing machines.
  • Interlock Knit
Double knit construction makes this the heaviest of the 3 knits. Similar to a Jersey knit except both front and back of the fabric look identical. Interlock is the tightest weave and gives the smoothest surface and the finest hand.
  • Jersey Knit
A single-knit, plain-stitched fabric with a face side that is markedly different from the back side.
  • Ottoman Knit
A substantial knit with a rich diagonal texture.
  • Pique Knit
Pronounced PEE-KAY. A knit sometimes called LaCoste after the company that popularized its use. Has a distinct right and wrong side. The right side resembles a honeycomb or waffle; the wrong side is flat and smooth. Has a coarse firm hand and generally uses fine yarns.
  • Pre-Shrunk
Refers to a garment made of fabric that has already been washed, so that most of the fabric shrinkage occurs before the garment is sewn.
  • Ring-Spun
Yarn produced on ring frame equipment; typically, this is a finer yarn, producing a softer hand.
  • Screenprinting
Screenprinting is when an image is transferred to the printed surface by ink squeegeed through a stenciled screen stretched over a frame. Screens are treated with a light-sensitive emulsion, then film positives are put in contact with the screens and exposed to light. The light hardens the emulsion not covered by the film, leaving a soft area on the screen for the squeegee to force ink through.
  • Spandex®
Spandex® (sometimes referred to as Lycra®, which is a brand of Spandex®) is a highly elastic synthetic fiber. Garments made entirely from Spandex® conform closely to the body and easily stretch and snap back into place. In blends, Spandex® provides stretchiness and helps the garment retain its shape.
  • Welting
One piece of rib knit material sewn on the cuff, collar or placket of a shirt.
